Sables on Tuesdays

I live in a house of 64 people. On Tuesdays I make snack. At 10 pm everyone scrambles downstairs and enjoys something to munch on. Snack is the best, and this semester I am honored to have the Tuesday shift.  For Christmas I received the Smitten Kitchen Cookbook, and I am in love with it. I want to have skills on the magnitude that Deb Perelmen has, so every Tuesday I am going to make a recipe from her cookbook or website.
This Tuesday I made her intensely chocolate sables.

Bittersweet chocolate grounds

random cookie cutters are the best kind

I had a few mishaps. One batch, the dough was too sticky to roll out. I left the tester batch in the oven for too long. But the end result of the good batch that wasn't left in the oven was so rich and chocolatey. Exactly what I needed to end my Tuesday.
Snack started at 10:00, they were all gone by 10:10. I would call that a success.
